Altrincham Duck

Helping Altrincham since 2014

How fast does time fly by? Its been a couple of weeks since we did a full news update so lets put that one right straight away.

After a well deserved week off the duck team were inundated with requests for visits and delivery of our trademark blue duck sticker - despite the workload if you would like a duck to visit you, please let us know and we'd be only too happy to accommodate.. however, down to business.

Our resident 'foodie' Ninja Duck has been busy over the last couple of weeks and if you haven't already caught up with his latest reviews, we strongly recommend you do so now in our news feed. The whole duck team prides themselves on the fact that our efforts are totally anonymous & non-profit, all Ninja's reviews are paid for out of his own pocket - thus ensuring that whatever you read is totally independant and non biast (we will never take any favours, nor will we ever 'tweet to eat' which we consider is becoming a bit of a problem in our local area) With Mothers day fast approaching we would also appreciate your own contributions to our website  for the benefit of other readers - you can submit/contact us via the links below.

So what's upcoming? We recently published a press release about the ducks and we were priveledged enough to become the third most read story on The Messenger newspaper website - on the back of this we were contacted by a well known Manchester radio station who are interested in supporting our efforts and we will be able to update you on this story after our meeting takes place early next week. Cryptic? maybe, but that's the nature of an anonymous duck! ..leave that one there for now?

Other than that we have also kept in touch with our close friends at The Roebuck and Orange Tree where our last two Tuesday 'quackups' took place.. it was also nice to be recognised and so warmly welcomed as 'ducks' by Lizzie and the team at Slug & Lettuce when Tuesday's meeting broke off and we rolled on up there in our personal time - a ducks work is never done! We can't fail of course to mention our other friends who the individual ducks pay regular visits to and who continue to show solid support for a campaign that is clearly gaining traction - thank you, we only ask that you show your support by displaying one of our stickers.. fair enough?

The ducks have been expanding out of the Altrincham area - you can also spot our stickers in Sale (#SaleTown) and as far afield as Didsbury, the anonymous duck collective is Altrincham based but we would genuinely be happy to support our neighbouring towns - we recently featured a guest post from Wythenshawe Town FC that you can read HERE and an interesting interview with Amanda from Cheshire Ladders B2B Services that you can find HERE. We also have an interview with a local Zumba tutor in the pipeline for the more energetic of you and of course more Ninja Duck reviews if you'd just rather sit and eat (we don't judge you!)

As always, your input would be of great benefit to us - weather a quick email about a good/bad local experience or a more detailed review of a local event/restaraunt etc, please contact us via This email address is being protected from spambots. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Mysterious Duck Arrives to Help Altrincham Businesses

A mysterious team of local residents have launched an online business group for Altrincham and surrounding areas.

Known as ‘Altrincham Duck and Friends’, the group launched in late 2014 with the aim of promoting all that is good about Altrincham businesses and the local community in an unbiased way.

Altrincham Duck and Friends are working with retailers, entrepreneurs and company owners in and around Altrincham in order to help support and promote local businesses. The group started on Twitter, but has since grown to include Facebook, and even a devoted website business directory and blog at www.altrinchamduck.co.uk.

Their trademark Blue Duck logo is now appearing in retailers and business premises all over the town as local companies show their appreciation for the project. To date, many organisations have been listed on the online directory and many more have been reviewed and promoted through the blog. The group is entirely not-for-profit due to their commitment to promoting all businesses without expectation of reward.

David Trott (33), owner of the digital marketing company Impact Business Advisors has worked with the team to develop their online presence. “The fantastic thing about Altrincham Duck is the entirely selfless way they want to support the town” says David. “There is no catch at all - they want to promote each and every business in Altrincham. It’s rare to see such community spirit in action!”

Wythenshawe Town FC are playing Kartel Sports on 7th of March in the Semi-Final of the Altrincham FA Senior Cup. WTFC want everyone to get behind the team at Ericstan Park so we are doing two initiatives to get a bumper crowd.

Firstly due to it being the Altrincham cup, the club are giving free entry to all Altrincham FC season ticket holders. So if you’re a Altrincham fan, and not traveling to Welling United that day, support your other local club in a huge game. The club want to show what's on offer, they have ambitions of bringing semi-pro football to Wythenshawe for the first time and need all the support possible on their climb to the NWCFL. They currently play in Cheshire League 2 along side Altrincham Reserves.

Secondly we will have a limited number of tickets available so email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for free tickets to our big game. If any charities want tickets, then we’ll happily give them plenty, otherwise it’s £2/£1/Free for Adults/Concession/Children. Please spread the word and let’s make this a memorable game for not only the club but for Wythenshawe.

Our programme ‘The Town Review’ will be on sale around the ground, the clubhouse will be open so come down and see what one of your local club is all about.
