The Altrincham Ducks were out around town again on Tuesday evening for the latest in our series of regular 'quackups' where we all get our beaks together to debrief on the previous weeks events and plan ahead for the future.
The initial meeting place this week was The Orange Tree in Old Market Place, and is one of our regular venues. It is also the home of Star Duck who has recently been for a short break to the USA - you can see some of Star Ducks photos here. The Orange Tree has been recently refurbished to provide a Traditional yet stylish environment that still holds true the values of the original pub - in the ducks opinion, a valuable asset to Altrincham.
A smaller group of ducks then moved into Altrincham centre where we paid a visit to Costellos Bar on Goose Green. The ducks particularly like this venue and a number of us can regularly be spotted here in our personal time as well as on behalf of Altrincham Duck. Costellos is the official tap for Dunham Massey Brewing Company boasting seven real ale hand pumps and a real lager font dispensing 'Altrincham Pilsner'. Although primarily specialising in real ale, Costellos also offers a wide selection of wines, spirits, ciders and soft drinks. The ducks opinion - Recommended.
The final destination of the evening was a short waddle around the corner to see our old friends at The Slug And Lettuce. Our host behind the bar for the evening was Lizzy who kindly posed for a quick photo shoot with Herman, Ninja and Rockstar duck. The Slug is open from 10am serving quality food all day through to 9pm - and offers a tipple for any taste including an extensive range of wines, draught and bottled lagers beers and ciders and the best that the 'spirit world' has to offer. Famous for their fabulous cocktails and mocktails the Slug is a 'must try' when visiting Altrincham.

2015 proved a spectacularly productive year for @AltrinchamDuck - the duck sticker has become the standard emblem for Altrincham and membership of team duck has exceeded expectations to the point where we regularly find it necessary to hire the Ethiad stadium for regular quackups.
We have seen Altrincham grow and grow over the last 12 months and our home town now boasts some of the most popular pubs, clubs, bars and restaurants in the Northwest. The successful town centre redevelopment has opened the door to the whole of the UK as THE premier destination for leisure & shopping anywhere in the country. This is as much a credit to local Altrincham people as it is to the developers/businesses who placed their faith in our small town and every single resident should be proud of however small a part they played.
The relocation of Parliament to portacabins on Altrincham Leisure Centre car park was admittedly a rather unexpected move but further reflects the importance of our small market town - coupled with Altrincham FC's dominance of Premier League football we collectively really do seem to have done Altrincham proud.
Lets keep the momentum of this success up, and most importantly - LETS MAKE ALL THIS HAPPEN???
The Altrincham Duck love has continued to blossom this week with support from a number of new friends around the Altrincham area.
The ducks themselves have been busy delivering stickers around a wide area - maybe you’ve seen us out and about in Altrincham recently? ..but don’t be afraid! - we’re a harmless bunch and our mission is simply to help/promote our home town and rid the world of anatidaephobia (irrational fear that somewhere, somehow a duck is watching you.)
The Tuesday venue for our last ‘quackup’ was the fantastic Riddles Bar on Greenwood St, Altrincham. Riddles describe themselves as “An exquisite speakeasy bar in the heart of Altrincham, Cheshire, offering world-class cocktails, expertly prepared by some of the finest minds in the UK, echoing the world of 1920s prohibition.” and the ducks certainly recommend you give them a try!
This weeks venue has been arranged and we’ll keep you up to date on where we’ve been and any resulting news - watch out for announcements of upcoming duck charity events!
