Altrincham Duck

As you all know Altrincham and surrounding areas are becoming quite a haven for the restaurant connoisseur, there is plenty to suit all tastes and budgets which is why the restaurant scene is thriving in the town and the newest kid on the block is Nahmprik Thai Cuisine at 12 Ashley Road, Altrincham. The ducks got wind of the restaurant by people spreading the word on social media which was nice to see. Good old community spirit spreading the love and encouraging people to support and visit new businesses.

 

The Ninja Duck waddled into Altrincham on Saturday evening with  Mrs Duck and the outlaws! We arrived at 6.30pm and were greeted by a friendly waitress who seated us and handed over the menus. The inside was clean and tidy and had an authentic feel about it. 

 

We ordered the prawn crackers as we wanted something to nibble whilst looking at the menu. The crackers arrived after 5 minutes and by that time we had decided what we were going to eat. The menu was very extensive and there were lots of dishes to choose from. For starters we ordered Satay Gai (chicken satay), 2 x Laab Gai (spicy chicken salad) and Gung Choop Paeng Tod (tempura prawns). For the main course we ordered  Chicken Gaeng Phed (red curry), Beef Massaman, Kow Pad Gung (Thai fried rice with prawns) and Guay Tiew Pad Kimow (drunken noodles)

 

The starters arrived after 15 minutes which was slightly longer than we had anticipated however the portion sizes were good and the food tasted fresh. Soon after we finished the starters the main courses arrived and again the food was fresh and spiced nicely with lots of flavours.

 

There was no M.S.G in the food which was good as the duck hates waking up in the middle of the night with a raging thirst and a beak like Ghandi's flip flop. 

 

The food was very nice and I would rate it an impressive 7.5/10. The service could have been a little quicker but this is a new restaurant and teething problems can be expected until they find their feet. The important thing is the food was nice, the staff were polite and the place had a good atmosphere. With a few non alcoholic drinks and the food it costs approx £25 pp which we consider to be a reasonable night out.
