Altrincham Duck

After hearing good reviews from friends, family and social media, Mr and Mrs Ninja Duck decided to paddle up the Bridgewater Canal towards the Jolly Thresher in Lymm,

 

This is a Gastro pub which prides itself on good ales, fine wines and traditional British food. It has a nice cosy bar area which is dog friendly and they have a good selection of guest Ales. It is family friendly and there is a large restaurant area to the rear. The staff are immaculately dressed and very polite. We decided to sit in the main restaurant area that was busy with customers which gave me the chance to weigh up the food quality and portion sizes. Let's just say I was salivating at the beak prior to sitting down - the ninja duck loves large portions especially Mrs Ninja Duck!

 

Straight away we were offered drinks and given the menu. For nibbles we ordered Bread and olives served with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. For starters we decided on the pan fried king prawns cooked in garlic butter, garlic and stilton mushrooms. 

 

For mains we ordered the 10 oz gammon served with pineapple, two eggs, hand cut chips, onion rings, grilled tomato and a flat cap mushroom, with Lancashire cheese and Onion Pie with hand cut chips and mushy peas. I'm not going to bang on about every individual ingredient but all I'll say is the food barely touched the sides it was that delicious and fresh.

 

The portion sizes are generous and the atmosphere was great. We were that stuffed we had to pass on the dessert menu but enjoyed a nice latte instead. The prices are reasonable and a main course with the trimmings is approx £10
